History of EWALD

Ewald Instruments was founded in 1951 in Manhattan, NY by Mr. Lux Ewald and later moved operations to Kent, CT in 1955. The company began manufacturing miniature and small resistance welders before adding flash strippers in 1957 and flash cutters in 1971.

In 1981, Ewald Instruments sold the resistance welding business to Black & Webster (Waltham, MA). Several years later, Dick Vreeland entered into a sales agreement with Mr. Ewald in 1989. Dick had previously worked for Ewald during the 1970s. The sale of Ewald Instruments to Dick Vreeland was finalized in 1995.

In 2023, T. J. Snow Company acquired Ewald designs and relocated manufacturing to their facilities in Chattanooga, TN.
